Pete Sorenson, president of World Wide Movers, Anchorage, Alaska, has received the Mayflower “Joyce Derrick Award,” which recognizes an individual who has shown particular dedication to and leadership in the moving industry. The award is named in honor of the late Joyce Derrick, who served as vice president of operations for a California Mayflower agency for 20 years and was known for her commitment to fellow employees and van operators.
The selection of Sorenson was announced by Richard H. McClure, president of Mayflower and of UniGroup, Inc., Mayflower’s parent company, at the van line’s recent convention held in Hollywood, Fla. In his recognition of Sorenson, McClure said: “Domestic and international agents who have worked with Pete and members of his team all agree that he has helped shape Mayflower and UniGroup’s expansion in the international moving market place.”
Sorenson serves on the UniGroup Worldwide-UTS Board of Directors. World Wide Movers joined the Mayflower family in 1968 and has locations in Washington and Alaska.
