Premier Transfer and Storage, Inc. Celebrates Five Years of Service
Growing Mayflower Transit Agent Adds to Blacksburg’s Vibrant Business Community

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Premier Transfer & Storage, Inc., a local Mayflower Transit agent, is celebrating five years of providing local, interstate and international transportation services as well as community support in Blacksburg, Va. John Phillips, previously Director of Economic Development for Virginia Tech and a member of the Army Reserve, purchased a Mayflower agency in Blacksburg in 2001 and another Mayflower agency in Salem, Va. in 2003. Today, the two companies operate as Premier Transfer & Storage, Inc.

“We’ve come a long way in five years, which is a direct result of our employees’ dedication and the reliable service we provide customers such as Virginia Tech and Luna Technologies, Inc., as well as thousands of families,” said John Phillips, owner of Premier Transfer & Storage Inc. “We’re excited about the future and about being part of this community as a business and family member.”

Premier employs 40 people and has been an active member of the Blacksburg and Roanoke communities in Virginia. Some of the company’s involvement includes sponsoring and providing vehicles and labor for the American Heart Association auction, donating to the American Cancer Relay for Life, helping the Rotary Club and the YMCA Thrift Shop, and transporting bikes for the Mountains of Misery Bike Ride. In addition, Premier supports many other local churches and civic organizations.

While Premier is dedicated to serving the community, its owner, John Phillips, has been dedicated to serving his country as well. Phillips completed 20 years of service in various sectors of the military including infantry platoon leader, co-commander and battalion operations officer. In the spring of 2005, he was sent to Iraq and completed his tour in Aug. 2006. During his active duty, he received the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
