ST. LOUIS – St. Louis recently celebrated a record-breaking “Scouting for Food” event conducted by the Greater St. Louis Council, Boy Scouts of America. To support the need to move the record 2.7 million cans of food collected, Dodge Moving & Storage, a local Mayflower Transit agent, donated their services.
Dodge employees Lola Edwards and Rob Nash donated their time to load two Mayflower moving trucks full of canned goods and transport the donations. The food was taken to the St. Louis Area Food Bank, an organization that feeds about 43,580 different people during any given week. Donations collected during “Scouting for Food” raises 15 percent of the yearly food supply for area food pantries.
“The logistical effort that the Boy Scouts undertakes to collect food and move it to those who are hungry is impressive,” said Ton Linhares, general manager for Dodge Moving & Storage. “We are proud that our people and trucks were able to help.”
