ST. PAUL, Minn. – Metcalf Moving & Storage recently celebrated its 40th anniversary as a Mayflower Transit agent. The company, which has offices in St. Paul and Rochester, Minn., was founded in 1919 by Allen Metcalf Sr. and has since been operated by Allen Metcalf Jr. and current owner Jon Archbold. The household goods mover became a Mayflower Transit agent in 1967.
“We are proud to be celebrating forty years with Mayflower Transit,” said Archbold. “Being a part of the Mayflower family has allowed Metcalf to stay true to our roots, while expanding our services to meet the growing needs of our customers and provide the highest quality of service.”
Known for its dedication to both the local community and customers, Metcalf has been recognized with a number of industry and local awards, including one of its van operators, Eric Brittain, being named Van Operator of the Year for Mayflower in 2006.
“Over the years, we have seen a tremendous amount of change in the moving industry,” said Archbold. “When the business was founded we charged $2 per hour for two men and a moving van. However, one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to quality and dependable service for all of our customers.”
