Steve DeBolt of San Diego Van & Storage Named
Chairman of the California Moving & Storage Association

San Diego Moving CompanySAN DIEGO, Calif. – The California Moving & Storage Association (CMSA) recently named Steve DeBolt, vice president of operations and sales at San Diego Van & Storage, an agent of Mayflower Transit, as the organization’s chairman.

“I’m excited for the year ahead,” DeBolt said. “As an industry, we are entering a time of change, and I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead the CMSA through what I hope will be a year of prosperity and new developments.”

DeBolt has a unique perspective on the industry, having started working at San Diego Van & Storage as a teenager when the El Cajon branch was managed by his father Wayne. After continuing to work at San Diego Van on school breaks during high school and college, DeBolt joined the agency full-time in 1988 and at the same time became active in the CMSA.

Just as DeBolt gradually took on more responsibility at his agency, he also grew into a leader in the CMSA. By 1993, DeBolt was president of the San Diego chapter of the CMSA and was honored with the Chapter of the Year Award at the 1994 Annual Convention. He began serving on the Government Affairs and Military Affairs Committees in 1997.

More recently, DeBolt was honored by Mayflower with the Operations Achievement award in 2004. This award recognizes one individual each year who has consistently demonstrated a passion for exceptional performance, teamwork, professionalism and achievement of common goals.

“Over the years, I’ve worked with family and friends both at our Mayflower agency and in the CMSA, and it has truly been an enriching experience to be a part of this industry,” DeBolt said. “I serve the CMSA with pride.”

DeBolt and his wife Kathy are active in the San Diego community, particularly at the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Historical Society and the Arts Council. Later this month, DeBolt and San Diego Van & Storage will be honored by the San Diego Council of Girl Scouts with a Community Partner award for their work on Operation Thin Mint, when Girl Scouts send cookies and notes to members of the armed forces serving abroad.

San Diego Van & Storage is in its 64th year as a Mayflower agency, and was founded in 1943 by DeBolt’s uncle and aunt, Ed and Shirley DeBolt, who had one truck with a lift-gate and ran the agency out of their kitchen.
