DES MOINES, Iowa – Select Van & Storage, a Mayflower Transit agent, will team up with Valley West Mall, Children & Families of Iowa’s Family Violence Center and the Free Store to host “Fill the Mayflower,” a household items drive to benefit victims of domestic violence on May 2 – 5. Donation hours are 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 2; 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3; 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4; and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, May 5.

Select Van & Storage will have two Mayflower trucks on hand to accept donations. Donors are asked to bring new or gently used household items such as furniture, small appliances, pots and pans, lamps and linens to the southwest parking lot of the Valley West Mall. After the donation period ends, Select Van & Storage will transport the donated items to the Free Store, a private nonprofit organization that partners exclusively with Children & Families of Iowa’s Family Violence Center to provide free furnishings, supplies and other items to help victims of domestic violence set up new homes when they leave the shelter.
