BRYAN, Texas – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Bryan, Texas, named Conlee-Garrett Moving & Storage, an agent for Mayflower Transit, as the mid-size business winner of the 2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. Out of 26 local nominations, Conlee-Garrett stood out in the crowd as the top company exemplifying the BBB mission of ethical business practices.
Owners Phillip and Donna Garrett credit their employees with carrying out the agency’s values of quality and integrity.
“We really put a focus on our employees and their importance in the overall process, and their ability to be an integral part of the team,” said Phillip Garrett. “The owners obviously give direction and provide oversight, but ultimately, it’s the employees’ job to make sure everything is done the way we, as a local company and our parent Mayflower Transit, want it to be for our customers.”
The selection process for the Torch Award is highly complex and involves judging businesses on customer satisfaction, employee training, hiring practices, new sales training and a commitment to ongoing education on ethics and integrity for all employees.
Ron Spies, chief financial officer of the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students, spoke highly of his recent experience working with Conlee-Garrett to organize a move for the University.
“We could not ask for a better experience,” Spies said. “Thy did anything we asked them, and when we changed the plans, they accommodated us.”
