Nilson Van & Storage, an agent for Mayflower in Fayetteville, N.C., assisted the crew and volunteers on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition who built a home in the local community. The episode, which features Barbara Marshall, a 15-year Navy Veteran who used her own money to start a shelter for homeless female veterans, is scheduled to air on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Nilson donated a tractor trailer to the building efforts during the taping of the episode in July, 2011. During the busiest month of the year for moving, it was difficult for Steve Rhodes, Nilson Fayetteville general manager, operations manager John Adams and the rest of the Nilson team to find an available truck, but upon hearing this family’s story, Rhodes knew that helping out was the right thing to do.
“I served in the U.S. Army for more than 25 years. As a veteran and a citizen of Fayetteville, I am truly grateful to Ms. Marshall and her family for the work that they do to support those who have served our country. We were fortunate to be a part of her efforts and are appreciative of the opportunity,” Rhodes said.
