Comparing Phone, TV and Internet in Your New Neighborhood

Moving presents a whole slew of challenges beyond simply hiring a moving company to cart your earthly possessions from one corner of the globe to another. Settling in to your new home once the movers have come and gone can be a bit like experiencing a very long epilogue. One of the most important steps of settling in comfortably is getting your phone, TV and internet connected so that you can begin to feel “human” again. Here are a few helpful tips to helping you do just that.

Get the Lay of the Land
Start scoping out what’s available in your new neighborhood before you even get there by researching the situation in advance. Use online phone, TV and internet tools that’ll tell you what’s available so that you can contact the phone, cable and internet companies and begin making arrangements now. You may think that doing without internet access for a few days until such time as you can have a tech come to your new home to set up your installation is doable, but think again. These days it’s not as easy as it used to be to go without some of the services we take for granted, like email or even Facebook. If your relocation just so happens to hinge on whether a specific package is available, the further in advance you begin your research the better.

Look for Bundles
A lot of companies today offer bundle packages that allow you to get all three services from a single source, as opposed to the “olden days” when the phone company only offered phone service, the cable company only offered TV, and the internet company didn’t yet exist. This not only makes your billing simpler, but you can also save a bundle by opting for packages that usually bring with them significant savings. It also limits the number of service calls for service installation to one, scoring big on the convenience scale—especially if you have to take time off of work in order to be present for installation.

Determine Your Needs
One of the most important things to do is to compare bundle options with individual services. For some, the savings inherent in a phone, TV and internet package will be the obvious choice. But if you’re someone who prefers to have a cell phone instead of a landline, doesn’t watch all that much TV, but are dependent on an internet connection for work or studies, perhaps a high speed internet connection is all you really need.

Don’t let your move leave you disconnected. The sooner you begin your comparison hunt for the best phone, TV and internet packages in your soon-to-be hometown, the better off you’ll be once the moving is done.
