Mayflower Transit announced that Union Transfer & Storage, Madison, Wisconsin, was the overall top performer in its annual Sustainability Challenge for the second consecutive year. The award was presented by Mayflower’s Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Rebecca Peterson at the company’s national sales and operations conference, recently held in St. Louis.
To participate in the challenge, each agent had to complete and submit a scorecard reflecting their sustainability efforts during 2016. Agents were then placed in categories based upon score, with 96 being the maximum. Union Transfer & Storage earned the top overall performer with for completing sustainable actions such as increasing the efficiency of its heating, cooling and ventilation system; implementing load optimization and recycling processes; ensuring company owned equipment is CARB compliant; and putting measures in place to monitor and control energy use.
Mayflower launched the Sustainability Challenge in 2014 to support its agents that incorporate sustainable practices throughout their organizations. It is also a way to recognize agents for making improvements to their business while positively affecting the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits.
