ST. LOUIS—Aug. 31, 2020 — Mayflower, America’s most trusted moving company, today announced the winner of its all-new “Mover of Movers” contest, created to award $25,000 to an individual for a bold, inspiring and life-changing move bringing positive impact to their community. After a worldwide online vote, Annalynn Clark, a special education teacher in Lompoc, California, has been named the winner of the Mover of Movers.

Annalynn has created a garden club at her local middle school to address food insecurity issues among her students while emphasizing math, English and reading comprehension skills and improving the beauty of the campus. With the $25,000 prize, she will launch her “Great Kindness Challenge,” an inclusive, empowering program for students and others in the community to dedicate 100 “Kindness” hours by helping others throughout the community. She will also be able to supply and maintain the garden club and curriculum for years to come.

“This is an incredible honor, and it’s been amazing to see how the Mover of Movers contest has already helped bring my community together. I cannot wait to get started with the Great Kindness Challenge,” said Annalynn. “Mayflower recognized the need in the community, and with their help, my ideas are now going to be a reality for our students, families and neighbors.”

This past spring, Mayflower sought nominations for the Movers of Movers contest and selected three finalists with dreams of a big move to make a difference, including Annalynn, for the public to choose a winner through an online vote. The other two finalists were Dexter George of Newark, New Jersey, and Kaitlyn Martinez of Phoenix, Arizona. Mayflower will be donating $1,000 each to Dexter and Kaitlyn as they make the next move in their endeavors.

Dexter currently runs Source of Knowledge, a bookstore dedicated to empowering and inspiring the Black community by providing information about their positive heritage and contributions in arts, medicine, education, science and history. He envisions adding a juice bar/coffee shop and developing an e-commerce site for the bookstore. Kaitlyn is the founder of Backpacks 4 Kids, an organization providing students in Arizona with necessary school supplies. She plans to help K-12 and university-level students in need with access to computer technology, such as Chromebooks and refurbished computers, especially in this time of increased virtual learning.

“This year’s Mover of Movers nominees, and especially our winner, Annalynn, truly embody the spirit in which we created the contest — one of courage and strength to make moves and take risks that make a difference for others,” said Marc Rogers, CEO of UniGroup, parent company of Mayflower. “Whether through this contest impacting local communities or a move to a new home, we’re proud to be the mover of movers and help make next adventures happen.”
