Virginia Blaine, Vice President of Continental Van Lines, Seattle, Washington, received the Mayflower Joyce Derrick award. The annual award recognizes individuals who have shown particular dedication to and leadership in the moving industry. It is named in honor of the late Joyce Derrick, who served as vice president of operations for a California Mayflower agency for 20 years and was known for her commitment to fellow employees and van operators.
The selection of Blaine was announced by Mayflower CEO Jim Powers at the van line’s recent convention held in Scottsdale, Arizona. In his recognition of Blaine, Powers said, “Her passion for providing clients with a first class moving experience from beginning to end truly sets the bar for the agency. She keeps her team focused on constant improvement in all service areas while seeking out new growth opportunities for Continental.”
Under Blaine’s leadership, Continental continues to expand its customer base to serve individual families, small companies and huge corporations throughout the country. The company has also become known for being committed to a high standard of service and professionalism.
Continental was established in 1952 as a family-owned business to move household goods to Alaska. Since then, the company has opened offices in Seattle and Tacoma and expanded into interstate and local moving within the lower 48 states and international moving. The company strives to provide quality, reliable moving services to individual families, small companies and huge corporations throughout the country, and offers international moving services as well. Still under the same family ownership and management, Continental’s third generation has now begun working in company operations.
