Each of your appliances may require special precautions and/or servicing to prepare them for a safe move. You can count on Mayflower to do all of the heavy lifting ─ the actual transportation of your appliance from your point of origin to your destination. However, it is your responsibility to prepare your belongings ─ including major appliances ─ for safe transport.
Preparing appliances to withstand handling during transit and/or storage will help them make it to your destination in working order. For example, this might include capping off a gas line, disconnecting an icemaker or bracing a washer tub. If you are not qualified to handle these preparations yourself, it is your responsibility to hire the appropriate technician. Keep in mind, Mayflower can refer you to companies who can service your appliances for you. Be sure to ask your move coordinator if you need assistance.

Remember, you can always ask your Mayflower move coordinator for advice. If you need help locating a qualified technician, you can request that arrangements be made on your behalf with a trusted, third-party service. If you authorize your Mayflower move coordinator to do this, it will be added to your Bill of Lading as an additional cost.
Understanding your mover’s limitations
Mayflower’s movers are no more qualified than you are to disconnect high-voltage connections or gas supplies. If you have been unable to arrange for a technician to prepare your appliances for transport on moving day, your movers will be unable to help you disconnect, service or reinstall them.
