Help Reduce Food Waste, Fight Hunger with Mayflower® & Move For Hunger

No one can thrive without nourishment. Yet, hunger touches 42 million Americans — including one in six children. During the pandemic, 79% of hunger relief organizations in the United States served more first-time clients than ever before.

As the need for hunger relief increased, providers struggled with waning volunteer bases; storage and preservation of perishable foods; and the adoption of online programming, education and outreach alternatives during COVID-19.

We want to help change that. That’s why we’re asking you to join us in supporting Move For Hunger.

A national nonprofit organization that has created a sustainable way to reduce food waste and fight hunger, Move For Hunger has mobilized moving, relocation and multi-family housing industry leaders so their customers, clients and residents can donate their non-perishable food when they move.

Additionally, Move For Hunger members organize community food drives, participate in awareness campaigns and create employee engagement programs to benefit communities nationwide.

Want to help? All it takes is a few steps.

Helping customers — and our communities — address food insecurity is both easy and more important than ever. Are you a customer with an upcoming move? Wondering if your Mayflower agent partners with our Move For Hunger initiative? Read on.

How Customers Can Donate to Move For Hunger

  1. Moving? Ask your move coordinator if the agent loading your belongings is participating in our Move For Hunger initiative.
  2. Provided they are, set aside your unopened, non-perishable food items.
  3. Your donation will be sorted and delivered to la local food bank that provides for area residents in need.
  4. They will pack up and deliver your donation to a local food pantry.

Together, we can work to eliminate food waste, fight hunger and give back to the communities where we live and operate in meaningful, sustainable ways.
